Sexyhusband and I had planned to do some sinning in San Francisco, but I didn't think I'd need anything more than a pair of jeans and a slutty top for the various clubs. Things changed when we found out about a club called Power Exchange, which you'll hear about soon enough. Suddenly, my slutty shirt and jeans weren't enough. Which is why I ended up at Stormy Leather today.
I'd heard of Stormy Leather before at Fetish Fleas, but I'd never shopped with them before. After today's experience, they're going to my first choice when I need any sort of fetish wear.
For those of you in California's Bay Area, it is well worth the trip into the city to visit their store in person (1158 Howard St). If, like me, you live elsewhere, the website is comprehensive and offers the same selection of men and women's clothes, shoes, toys, and gear.
I have mentioned before that I'm not a teeny girl. Unfortunately, most fetish wear creators think that a small is a size 0. For the plus sized sex kitten, shopping for a slinky new PVC skirt or a leather bra and thong can be the kind of experience that makes you want to bare your claws. Stormy Leather, however, has an impressive range of options for us. One small word of caution-heed the sizing charts and if you're concerned, give them a call-I usually wear a 1 or 2x top and the right size corset for me was a 3x, with a 4x skirt in leather and some of the PVC skirts (a 5x--eek!) ran smaller. Don't worry-they'll help you find the right pieces for your body and your wallet.
One of the best parts of the shopping experience was meeting Kirsten and Sarah, two of the ladies who run the store. Friendly, knowledgeable, and comfortable with the newbie (Sexyhusband) or the not so newbie (I'm not a newbie, but I'm not so experienced that I deserve the title) they made the experience that much better.
Kirsten helped me find the most adorable leather kilt, and helped me pick through the cinchers to find the right one. When I asked about sale items, she pointed us in the way and gave a few suggestions for less expensive alternatives to what I was considering. When it came time to try things on, she patiently helped Sexyhusband learn the proper way to lace, tie, and unlace a corset. When I was concerned that something wasn't going right, she took the time to really look at how we'd tied the corset, found the problem and gave us advice on how to prevent it. She was friendly, knew her shit, and laced me into a sexy hourglass shape without cutting off my air supply (always a delicate balance). She never pressured us, and largely because of that lack of pressure (and because I'm a greedy girl), I ended up buying the skirt, the cincher and the corset when I'd only planned to buy the skirt and a top.
I started talking to Sarah at the register when Kirsten was ringing me up-I had some questions about Power Exchange and they were more than happy to give us the scoop. Sarah also gave us the inside scoop on the Lusty Lady (a must see, in her opinion-we're planning on checking it out tonight), and some of the other strip clubs and S&M clubs in the area.
I can't say enough good things about this store. While we were shopping, we heard them interviewing someone for a sales position-on the way back to the hotel, I said to Sexyhusband that if we lived in the Bay Area, I would've given them an application on the spot.
Stormy Leather is the place to be if you're into fetishwear. They have clothes for the teeny people and the plus sized people, shoes, and sex toys galore. Get ready to bust out your credit card, and click on over today.

What a great experience! And this is the third time recently I've heard about the Power Exchange, even though I live way up here in Canada. I think it's a sign. SF, here I come. :)

I am going to have to stop reading everyone's plugs for great stores, especially the ones that provide larger sizing - it's breaking my bank!
Sounds like an awesome place to go visit and a real plus to have helpful salesgirls.
